Hatchet Plot

Plot: In any story, the main character will face some kind of problem or
conflict. What was the challenge your main character faced and how did he/she
overcome it? Would you have reacted the same way? WHY OR WHY NOT?
Brain had to get wood and make tools that would help him survive.
Brain over-comed this by using the hatchet and thinking positively.

I think that I would of reacted similarly but I would have more experience with
the out-doors since I go to my family farm a lot.

Hatchet visual setting

This is my visual setting from the book Hatchet.
I chose this because I thought it was one of the most important settings in the book.

My hatchet Quote

For my literacy today I had to find a quote.
I chose this quote because it made me think about a small secret could mean a lot.

William pike/community service

William pike

For William pike I have started to plan to plant flowers for the bees.
Because there has been a decrease in the bees especially in the last year.
So by planting flowers I hope that it will produce enough pollen and help bees.

Girls self defense

For girls self defense we have done 4/5 sessions

I have learnt how to get out of a choke hold and if I was being pulled.

i have also learnt how to hammer push and normal push.Plus where to push so it doesn't hurt me.

Maths

This week I have learnt how to easily find out the amount of a number when it is needed to be divided by a fraction.

Example...

3/10 of 30 is 9
My goal for next week is to be able to divide decimals with the fractions.

My envelope poem

To do a envelope poem you have to make sure
that the first and last line is the same.

To dive into the ocean...
I shiver as the water crashes down
The sand tingles through my toes
I can see fish swimming.
To dive into the ocean….

My Quatrain

I did my poem around ice skating because I love trying to
do new tricks and hanging out with my friends.

Skating on the frosty ice
With my best buddy
A hot chocolate would be warming

Tech

Today at tech I did mechatronics and sewing

At mechatronics I managed to program the robot to move around the craters and the volcano.
I also worked out how to use a block called tank which is where the two wheels work differently so that it can pivot on the spot.

And in sewing I have decided that I am going to focus my bag design on deforestation.
Which is where people cut down tree.

My goal for next week to paint my design onto my bag.

Maths

This week I have been focusing on comparing fractions

For comparing fractions we had to list the factors of the denominator and find the lowest common number that appears.

For example...
If I had 3/4 and 2/8
I would list the factors like this
4,8,12,16,20...
8,16,24...

In this I find out that 8 is the lowest common number.
So then I would times the 3/4 by 2 so that I have the same denominator. It would now look like this (6/8)

so now if I look at 6/8 and 2/8 I can easily tell that 6/8 is the bigger number.

Tech

For tech I am doing Sewing and Mechatronics

In sewing I am making a bag that can raise awareness for deforestation and be used instead of a plastic bag in shopping.
Some of the other ideas in my group are to do with bees , Ice cap melting and Air pollution.

In Mechatronics we are learning how to program the robots and complete missions that are designed around the mars 2020 rover mission. So far I have learnt how to make the robot move fowards , backwards and turn.

My concrete poem

This week I have been doing some poems for literacy and this is my concrete one

To do a concrete poem you need to find a shape and write your poem in the shape.Your goal is basically to chose a shape that you can base your poem around.

My haiku poem

Chirping birds sing
As I watch the long grass sway
In the twilight rain

A haiku poem is where you use syllables in a haiku it goes
5 syllables for the first line
7 for the second line
and then 5 again for the third line
