Space Glossary

This is my glossary about space it is for people around Y5-Y6


Space
Aero-space - The branch of technology that creates things fit for space
Asteroids - a small rocky body orbiting the sun
Astronomy - Studying outer space and the stars
Atmosphere - Gases that surround the earth or another planet
Binary stars - a system of two stars in which one star revolves
around the other or both revolve round a common centre.
Comets - Comets are cosmic snowballs of frozen gases , rocks and dust that orbits the sun
Constellations - groups of stars that make a shape
Crater - a large bowl shape hole in the ground
 Eclipse - It is when one object in the sky moves into the shadow of another object
Galaxy - a system of billions of stars all formed together
Gravity - an invisible force holding us down to earth
Interstellar - Moving between stars and planets
Meteoroid - a small body moving in the solar system that would become a meteor if it entered the earth's atmosphere.
Milky-way - a large spiral galaxy in outer space
NASA - A American company that explores space and researches about space.
Nova - a star showing a sudden outburst of light then returning to its normal state
Orbit - Path of an outer space object e.g. a spacecraft going around a planet
Planets - a big land mass that has evolved in the universe
Solar-system - A group of planets
Universe - all existing matter and space considered as a whole
